I have back pain for 2 years now and I’m out of breathe, but my parents say I’m OK?

Hello my name is (…) and i’m 17 years old and a female. I have been having back pain for I think 2 years now and i’ve not been too a doctor because my parents said it’s just growing pain and this year my back pain has gotten worse and i’m out of breathe really easily especially when I climb up the stairs and my legs always have a numbness either when I sit down for too long. My back pain is the worst if I sit or stand up for too long or if I bend down to pick up something and when I go to bed it’s hard for me to go to bed because it’s hard for me to breathe cause of the pain in my back is so bad and so I can’t sleep on my back and only on my side. Could you please tell me what I have?

Hi and welcome to question doctors.com
Although you are young for saying that but it seems you are having a lumbar disc lesion that needs to be diagnosed by MRI and clinical examination… Until then
Rest and Dont bend forward to carry objects..
Use hot pack on back..
A massage if possible..
Later you will have to strengthen your back and strtch your hamstrings..under supervision by a physiotherapist …

Hi
i do not think it is normal growing pain. You definitely have something wrong in your spine that is troubling you,may be a slipped disc, a pars defect. You should atleast get an xray / mri done to see if anything is wrong inside. Do not neglect as you are very young.
Thanks

HI
YOUR BONES ARE WEAK ,MAY BE BECAUSE OF LOW CALCIUM INTAKE AND OSTEOPENIA. THE SPINE IS A WEIGHT BEARING COLUMN OF OUR BODY.MAJORITY OF OUR BODY WEIGHT IS PUT ON THE SPINE. SO WEAK SPINAL COLUMN MAY BE CAUSING SO MUCH OF PAIN. TAKE CALCIUM AND VITAMIN d SUPPLEMENTS ALONG WITH PAIN KILLER TABLETS. CONSULT A ORTHOPEDIST

hello there
back pain for 2 years cannot be without a reason. Your parents need to understand this and you should be taken to a orthopedic specialist and get yourself checked. diseases like spondylolisthesis, disc problems etc are quite common and should not be ignored
