Our Tens Unit Pick : Tens Unit Muscle Stimulator 24

Tens Unit 24 Muscle Stimulator 24 Review by Doctor Javez Ernesto

How does a Tens Unit function?

TENS functions by passing small electrical impulses through electrodes that have sticky pads to join them to a person’s skin.

These electrical impulses overwhelm the nervous system, decreasing its capacity to send pain signals to the spinal cord and brain.

The same electrical impulses also stimulate our body to produce natural pain relievers that we call endorphins.

Why you should buy a TENS device?

Muscle and joint pain have a wide range of treatment options. For some people, a device that pulses electricity through muscles called a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit can take the edge off acute pain. After spending 12 hours researching and another 12 hours testing different TENS units, I came to the Tens Unit Muscle Stimulator 24. It’s convenient and simple to use, and it’s small enough to carry around or tuck inside a pocket. The Tens Unit Muscle Stimulator 24 has more intensity settings than most models, allowing you to turn up the power steadily. Plus, this model is supported by a warranty, whereas most of the competition is not covered at all. These factors and advantages made this device one of the most affordable and functional devices.

TENS is considered a non-invasive technique for reducing pain. People who encounter pain can find relief by using a TENS device and possibly reduce their intake of pain medications, some of which can cause disadvantageous side effects or addiction.

TENS units are also convenient because they are small, movable, and almost discrete. People can take a TENS unit with them within their pocket or clip it onto a belt to assure that they have instant and quick access to pain relief during the day.

Is it worth it?

Although transcutaneous nerve stimulation is extensively used in hospitals and physiotherapy clinics, the compelling evidence for its effectiveness is relatively new.

Many studies have found that TENS treatment provides temporary pain relief for people with fibromyalgia while the device was in use.

While there is a lack of strong clinical evidence for its effectiveness, TENS is a low-risk pain relief option for many people.

Helps with joint pain

Joints form the links between bones. They offer support and help people move. Any harm to the joints from injuries or diseases can interfere with your movement and cause a lot of pain. Various conditions can lead to painful joints, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, and other injuries. Joint pain is remarkably common. In one national survey, about one-third of adults stated having joint pain at least within the past month.

Relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee

Numerous clinical studies have evaluated the potential effects of transcutaneous neurostimulation in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. In general, the results indicate a decrease in joint stiffness and pain associated with osteoarthritis. However, there was little improvement in the functional capacity of the patients.

Performs anesthetic action in dentistry or dental surgery

Since the 1990s, studies have shown that the use of TENS during dental procedures can reduce the discomfort associated with anesthetic injections, decrease pain during the procedure and reduce medication intake.

Improves memory impairment in patients with Alzheimer’s disease

Clinical studies have concluded that transcutaneous neurostimulation may improve some symptoms in patients with recent Alzheimer’s disease, primarily memory, and mood. A placebo study found significant improvement in cognitive function and short-term memory in patients with Alzheimer’s disease after four weeks of TENS. However, after six months, no difference was observed between the two groups.

Relieves pain associated with dysmenorrhea

In 2002, one evaluated the effectiveness of TENS in relieving pain caused by dysmenorrhea. The results turned out to be contradictory. In 2007, two small studies observed that transcutaneous neurostimulation could act in the short term on the pain felt during menstruation.

Relieves pain during childbirth

In a 2007 study, women in both groups (TENS and TENS placebo) were stimulated on two specific acupuncture points. Women receiving true transcutaneous nerve stimulation experienced less pain in the first phase of labor than those in the placebo group. The authors conclude that it may be a useful adjunct therapy.

Relieves chronic lower back pain

The effects of transcutaneous neurostimulation or electroacupuncture to treat chronic low back pain have been the subject of several controlled clinical studies to date and the results remain controversial. Experts concluded that TENS could be used as an immediate additional treatment to reduce pain in the short term. However, they would not have had a positive effect on reducing pain in the long term.

Besides, other research has shown that electroacupuncture could reduce the pain of individuals suffering from rheumatoid arthritis of the hand, relieve migraines or even relieve pain related to various chronic pain (osteoarthritis, pancreatitis, myofascial syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, low back pain).

Are there any risks of side effects?

This technique has some contraindications. Thus, people who have had a pacemaker implanted cannot receive transcutaneous nerve stimulation treatment. As for pregnant women, neurostimulation can prematurely trigger contractions.

In general, the electrodes should not be placed near the heart, on the front of the neck, on the head, near the eyes, on a wound, or in very sensitive areas.

TENS isn’t safe for everyone to use. Don’t use it without first seeking medical advice:

  1. Caution should be used in applying TENS/EMS to patients suspected of having heart disease. Further clinical data is needed to show there are no adverse results.
  2. Do not use TENS/EMS during pregnancy.
  3. Do not place electrodes on the front of the throat as spasm of the Laryngeal and Pharyngeal muscle may occur.
  4. Do not stimulate over the carotid nerve, particularly with patients with known sinus reflex sensitivity.
  5. Care should be taken so that when operating potentially dangerous machinery the stimulator controls are not changed abruptly.
  6. Cases of skin irritation at the electrode site have been reported. Stimulation should be stopped and electrodes removed until the cause of the irritation can be determined.
  7. Electrodes should not be placed over the eyes, in the mouth, or internally.
  8. Keep this device out of the reach of children

Conclusion:

According to my use of Tens Unit Muscle Stimulator 24, it has 24 different functions that can be used by a beginner as well as a therapist, it works well, and also the battery life is great.

It is a wonderful option for relieving pain. Instead of buying dozens of medication. This device can be useful and would help in reducing pain in different parts of our bodies. Using it the right way would make it more effective and the experience of using will be more enjoyable and worth every penny spent on it.
