I have multiple myeloma-stage one. I have been diagnosed w/leukopenia. The Dr. wants to treat me w/Revlimid, Velcade and Dexamethasone. Is chemo wise considering I have leukopenia before treatment even starts? Greatly concerned!

Hi..
If you already have Neutropenia then chemotherapy can further reduce the numbers.
But many novel agents used these days in chemotherapy are seen to cause less side effects but still neutropenia is a common side effect..
So better to discuss with another Oncologist before proceeding to avoid lethal side effects…
Many a times low dose treatment and regular monitoring can avoid severity of side effects.
Regards.
You can also discuss about stem cell transplant with your Oncologist and get examined if you are fit for it..
