I was just told by my doctor that I might have herpes. I talked to my mother about it today to find out she and my father both had the virus before I was born. Is it possible I was born with the virus and didn’t show any signs when I was born because she didn’t have any signs of an outbreak.

Hi.
It can be a case of Birth Acquired Herpes..
So if there is a doubt that you are infected you should undergo tests like Viral culture, antigen antibody reaction, Polymerase chain reaction etc..
Once the tests confirms then you can be treated accordingly with antiviral medications..
Regards..
If the viral count is low there will be no signs of infection but still the infected individual will be a carrier of the virus..
