I am alcoholic and dependent on drugs, should I go to an alcohol and drug rehab center?

Hello Doctors, my name is (—) I am 29 years old and I am alcoholic and dependent on drugs. I use cocaine daily. And I am a very heavy drinker too. I won’t go into details but I can’t keep a job, have lost all my friends and my family has had pretty much enough of me. I need to stop drinking and doing cocaine and get my life together again. Can you please give me your opinion. How can I stop my addiction. Should I go to a drug and alcohol rehab center. I live in the USA. Are there any rehabilitation centers in the North East you can recommend. I really want a new beginning and put an end to my addiction or should I say addictions! What should I do? Thank you in advance.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Yes, you should go to de-addiction centre but a one certified..

Also start doing meditation and yoga to control your mind and urges..

Keep yourself involved in work and activities of your choice..

Hope this helps..

You can choose between an inpatient or outpatient rehab center. Outpatient programs will adapt a program to your individual needs. Some may involve daily 8-hour programs, others may only meet for 1 to 2 hours per day. Inpatient program rehabilitation centers require you stay there 24 hours a day and offer a number of treatments including individual counseling sessions, group therapy, life skills courses etc. An initial detox period is done then followed by a psychological support period.
