I had a spontaneous pneumothorax and I ended up getting a chest tube on the left lung?

Hi I’m a 21 year old, tall & Lanky about 155-160 lbs and about 6 months ago I had a spontaneous pneumothorax and I ended up getting a chest tube on the left lung and was in the hospital for about a week an a half. Well they blew it up the best it would and they said it’s still short about 10% Well every since then I have had pain on my left side pretty much identical to when my lung collapsed before. At times it can seem to get really bad and make it where I need to sit down and close my eyes cause I get dizzy and the pain is unbearable sometimes but it eventually goes back to normal to where it’s bearable. The pain isn’t always bad enough to notice but at least twice a day it gets bad enough to where I need to relax. My breathing is usually fine until the pain kicks up a notch and hurts bad then it’s hard to breathe and my side just aches like a knife got shoved in there. Any ideas? Thank you

Hi and welcome to question doctors.com
It wouldn’t hurt to have your doctor take another look at you to make sure that there isn’t another infection going on. Is your pain worse with breathing? A condition that can make for sharp stabbing pain with breathing is pleurisy, an inflammation of the lining around your lungs. This can happen because of a prior infection.
I think you need to do a recent xray knowing that it takes about 10months to heal after treatment from pneumonia..

HI There, I have a partially collapsed lung due to blunt trauma in my chest. The X-ray could not tell if I cracked/broke a rib. I have had 3 X-rays so far and the collapsed lung is 1.4cm so they are just observing me. I have extreme bruising on my left upper chest and it is very uncomfortable. I also have what appears to feel like fluid under my skin above my breast. When I run my hand over the skin, I feel/hear a swooshing sound – not too sure what that is. Can you help me out?
Thank you!
