I had an aortic heart valve transplant and before that, my B/P was normal, but since the transplant, my blood pressure is running on the high side…So my heart Doctor changed me from 20 mgs. of lisiinipril to 40 mgs P/day…It doesn’t seem to have helped that much soo I wondered if, by me taking 20 mgs, in the AM and 20 mgs in the PM would not be good enough and that I should take the 40 mgs. alll at once in the AM?…Would that make a difference? My heart Doctor is on vacation so, thought I would ask you folks what you think…

Hi
lisinopril have 12 hours half life, which means if you take 40mg once it works only for 12 hours, also 40mg at once is too much in one dose, your doctor may ask you to up dose to 30mg twice if 20 my is not helping
Good Luck

HI,
how long have you been on that dose?
are you taking any diuretics?
you may let the dose maintained by 40 mg once daily however this is not possible until you doctor checks your blood pressure for some time like 5 days regularly.
Drinking plenty of water and avoiding salt are of course essential measures.

Hi..
Lisinopril is given once a day and if the blood pressure is not controlled a diuretic can be added as it is commonly seen to help..
So you need a thorough follow up with your Physician/Cardiologist..
Also limit salt intake..

Hope this helps.
