My son has a fever, He is 2 years old. His temperature is 101.8-100.8. I took his temp from under his arm. All I want to know is if I need to take my son to a doctor in the morning.I gave him a bath when I realized he had a fever. when he got out he had the shakes and was cold instantly. The bath water was warm not to hot. I gave him Tylenol at 9:00 pm and then again at 1:00 am. But when I went to give him his second dose it did not feel like the fever was going down.

Start instantly doing cold water foments on the head… Under arm pits and between his thighs.. While he is dry… Use a fan to cool his temp down.. Let him wear only a one layer of clothes of cotton.. it seems that he has viral fever. such viral infections are usually associated with high grade fevers associated with chills and rigors. do not worry. give him paracetamol or other NSAIDS every 6 hourly.
monitor and keep a record of the recorded temperatures. give him plenty of fluids and fruit juices.
if the fever doesnt show any signs of improvement in next 2 days,consult a doctor.

TEPID SPONGING,CHANGING THE MEDICINE AND STARTING ON APPROPRIATE ANTIBIOTICS SHOULD BE DONE IMMEDIATELY. CONSULT A PEDIATRICIAN IF THE FEVER IS HIGH. MAINTAIN HIS HYDRATION WITH LOTS OF WATER.

see if he has any kind of infection in his body,like chest or urinary tract infection.
cold sponging of the body every 2 hourly should be done. giving paracetamol should suffice. salads and sweet lime juice should be given. get his cbc checked to see for platelets count
