The cause of Budd Chiari is unknown. So it is difficult to say if it is caused by a birth defect. MRI and Doppler ultrasound would show abnormalities in liver, spleen and veins. Hi.
Thanks for the query.

Budd-Chiari syndrome is caused by blood clots that completely or partially block blood flow from the liver. The blockage may occur anywhere from the small and large veins that carry blood from the liver (hepatic veins) to the inferior vena cava.

The underlying cause us unknown or can say that why it us caused is still questionable.

Treatment depends on how severe the symptoms are..

It needs regular follow up and investigation following management of the symptoms.

Thanks.
