Child was born with enlarged ventricles in her brain?

Child was born with enlarged ventricles in her brain and at nearly 18 months doesn’t crawl normally (sideways crawl) or walk (although she “cruises” holding furniture). She is suspected of having glaucoma and what sounds like severe myopia for her age. Do these symptoms indicate a particular type of issue (iaaur)?

Developmental delay and myopia are common symptoms of vetriculuomegaly (enlarged ventricle) she may be having CSF accumulation. In his brain cavities which may cause pressure on the brain tissues ..
A surgical shunt is needed then and intensive physiotherapy ..
Thanks..

It is expected for a child with enlarged ventricles to have delayed milestone
You should have started physical therapy at the age of 2 month , i recommend you start immediatly
However the delay in walking and side crawling could be the result of the glaucoma, so you should check it first
In my opinion you should also check her hearing ability

Good Luck

hi
these are symptoms of raised intracranial tension due to back pressure from accumulated CSF.
She needs immediate surgical shunt operation to avoid further complications.
consult a pediatric neurologist.
thanks

HI
THIS IS OCCURING DUE TO THE ACCUMULATED CSF IN THE VENTRICLES.
GET OPTHALMIC EXAMINATION DONE AND A SHUNT OPERATION NEEDS TO BE DONE.

hello there
glaucoma is not a good sign.
she may have some congenital syndrome and the enlarged ventricles may be connected to the eye issues.
a shunt surgery is the thing that should be done asap.

Its an emergency ma’ am

Dilated ventricles in not a dangerous sign .. but any increase in the intracranial pressure is an emergency that needs surgical interference..

Seek an opthalmological , pediatric surgeon and ped Neurologist consultation at the same time to take the rightful desicion quickly.
