competitive swimmers are generally fit, though their heart rate may be on the slower side normally.
but suddenly getting heart to beat faster is certainly not expected at her age. just check if she is suffering from any kind of anxiety. in that case, she will get variations in her heart rates. to be on a safer side you can get her ecg checked to rule out any heart related problems.

That would be haemoglobin deficiency anaemia … Do a CBC and see first.. If nothing shows up then try a cardiac Emg ..
