I had a fracture and the doctor kept my leg in a cast for over 6 weeks. When he removed the cast my lower leg had become very brown and has remained that way for over three years. Is there anything that could be done? The skin is very dry and I hate to wear shorts in the summer. thanks for any advice!

Hello. There can be changes to skin after a cast is removed. More hair, lighter color, even darker, although less frequent. You seem to have suffered skin damage due to the cast. Your skin is probably producing too much melanin. There are products available that can lighten color skin, by reducing the melanin, such as skin bleaching and lighteners which are available OTC. Of course getting the right match with the rest of your skin may be difficult to get – so you may not be 100% satisfied of the results. Regards
