60 year old male. I had fever, bad cough, pain and chills for a week. Now all back to normal. But during the week I
had diarrhea. Now after the fever and symptoms have subsided I continue to have diarrhea.
What can be the cause of the diarrhea and why do I still have it?
What can I do to stop the diarrhea?
Are there any tests that I should do?
Is the diarrhea a sign of a another problem?
I take no meds other than synthroid for thyroid and (low-dose) pills for high blood pressure.
I have had colonoscopy done once every 2 years – all OK.
Hi
I recommend that you do a stool culture , my opinion having a bacterial infection can be the cause
Good Luck
It seems your symptoms is due to viral infection ,gastroenteritis..
It could be a sign of other problem but in your case ,I Dont think so as it came after fever and cough …
Stool analysis is a good test to get assured.
Drink plenty of water and fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avoid sugar and lactose products
Crackers can help reduce diarrhoea.
It is most probably gastroenteritis and it is self limited
Urine , and stool analysis is enough
Just eat high fiver diet and healthy , well washed food
Hi..
Thanks for the query..
It looks like Gastroenteritis..
Consult a physician and get a stool culture done..
For now take Loperamide to control loose motions.
Take more of yogurt and take oral rehydration salts..
Take light meals..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
