A day after I 1st had sex, I had yeast, UTI and severe itch. Was tested but no STI. During monistat 3, I still had sex (sometimes oral and unprotected) and had cuts, burns and itch. After, everything better but itch outside lingered. Was given Diflucan and Clotrimazole. No help. Miconazole 2% helps me. Partner not treated (claims no symptoms) we use latex lubricated condom. Every time we have sex (oral/vaginal) I itch outside. Is it still yeast & should I use Miconazole.

General Information: Itching outside after having sex! Should I still use Miconazole because it relieves me? Is it still yeast? Should my partner be treated? Is it his saliva? Or the condom?
You may be allergic to latex condoms. Try using non latex rubber condoms. Also use a personal lubrication lotion to avoid irritation. Miconazole is an anti fungal cream it should have cleared up the infection after 2 or 3 weeks. Your partner should also be maybe more gentle and take his time.
You have not indicated any UTI symptoms?
Anti Fungal Medication should only be used as recommended. If yeast infection persists, testing will be required to determine more appropriate treatment.
I don’t believe I uses the miconazole nitrate cream for more than 3 days at a time. Could I need a repeat treatment since I did not use it long enough. I stopped using when itching stopped. Could my partner have oral thrush or could he be infected?
If you have no symptoms of yeast infection, that is a sign the anti fungal worked.
Thrush is a yeast infection. It can move from one person to another then die or colonize and develop. Which is why it is often best to treat both partners at the same time.
All I experience is itching externally. No other symptoms. I don’t know if that is enough to indicate yeast? And if I should use an anti fungal cream. I used it twice before only for 3 days. I felt better but itching comes back and worse after oral/vaginal sex. No UTI symptoms.
Hi. Thanks for the query.. Your symptoms appears to be most probably due to allergic reaction. Allergic reaction can be to the latex condom that contains a protein that causes allergic reaction to certain individuals.. However if you are exposed to the semen then in a very few cases there is allergy to seminal fluid also.. It does not look like yeast infection. You should consult a Gynaecologist and get evaluated.. A vaginal swab culture can help in ruling out yeast infection or Vaginal thrush. You should also replace your Latex condoms to Polyurethane condoms. For severe itching you can… Read more »
Treatments for yeast infections vary – short course, long course. But It seems to be more like an allergy than a yeast infection. Non latex condoms and personal lubricant may help. It may also be a reaction to a soap, laundry product, deodorant or tampon you use. If symptoms persist you will need to consult for a correct diagnosis. It may be some other vaginitis caused by Chlamydia, Trichomonas etc.
