I have insulin resistance, doc prescribed Januvia 10mg, will this work?

I am a 61 year old female and have been diagnosed with insulin resistance but am unable to take metformin XR 500 due to severe side effects. My doc has suggested Januvia 10mg. Will this work as I do not have diabetes 2 as yet.

hi
januvia is a effective drug and works wonders in such cases. If metformin is causing problems, januvia is the best option for you. You may require a bit of time for getting adjusted to this new drug. Monitor sugar levels regularly.
thanks

HI
METFORMIN XR WOULD HAVE BEEN IDEAL FOR YOU,BUT IF YOU ARENT ABLE TO TOLERATE IT THEN JANUVIA IS A GOOD OPTION. IT MAY TAKE TIME TO SHOW ITS EFFECTS EARLIER ON,BUT ONCE IT SETS IN,WILL SHOW GOOD RESULTS

Hello there
Though januvia is considered safer than metformin. .efficacy wise it is less effective. But in your case if u have serious side effects for metformin then januvia is a good option and u should go for it
