Nitrites in the urine is usually found when there is a bacterial infection. This is done using a test called urinalysis. Bacteria in urine means there is a UTI – Urinary Tract Infection. To confirm what kind of bacteria is involved your doctor will probably want to follow up with a urine culture and prescribe the appropriate antibiotic.
