I noticed a pea sized lump in front of my left ear?

A couple of days ago I noticed a pea sized lump in front of my left ear. It doesn’t seem to move, and is not painful. I cannot tell if it has changed in size at all. It definitely doesn’t seem to have gotten any bigger. I cannot get an appointment with my GP for a couple of weeks, and don’t know if it’s urgent enough to spend £50 on a private appointment. Thanks.

Sounds like a swollen ear lymph gland (preauricular nodes). This can be a sign that your body is fighting off an infection or is due to a cut, bruise or inflammation. May be caused by a cut near the ear, scalp or top of scalp. Swollen glands should resolve by themselves within 2 weeks. Consult if you have fever, fatigue or node gets infected or persists.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

A painless small lump infront of the ear can be most probably a lymph node and as it is infront of the ear it is probably preauricular group of lymph node..

You should keep an eye over it and see if it increase or decrease in size..

In case if there is no improvement in next 1-2 weeks then you should get it checked..

For now you can do alternate warm and cool compresses over it..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
