65 year old male with cervical spine (neck) pain, xrays say nothing wrong. We don’t believe that?

65 year old male with cervical spine (neck) pain. The pain is significant at times and will cause his shoulder and his hands tingle. He has also had injuries in the past to his lower back due to a military incident. At this time we are more interested in seeing someone who can help with neck pain. VA has x-rayed it and says there is nothing wrong. We don’t believe that. We might also need assistance with his lower back issues somewhere down the road. Please let me know what type of doctor to see?

In my opinion there is no chance a 65 years old formal military can have a normal x ray
You should see an orthopedic doctor , and start physical therapy
Good Luck

Hi …thanks for posting your question on question doctor
Xrays do not show everything .he may be having a disc lesion or prolapse that causing his symptoms.
A MRI is going to show it and a neurologist is recommended as he will assess the tingling symptoms and other signs to achieve diagnosis.

hi
you are absolutely right.
Only Xrays do not rule out all the pathologies as they show only bones.
Getting an MRI of the affected area will help to rule out lesions like spondylosis or slipped disc.
You should see a orthopedist for further treatment.
thanks

HI
SPONDYLITIS CAN BE THE REASON. OFTEN XRAYS SHOW NO ABNORMALITY.
START ON PHYSIOTHERAPY,CERVICAL TRACTION,SHORT WAVE DIATHERMY AND USE CERVICAL COLLAR.
