Could psoriatic arthritis be a more systemic problem leading to multiple seemingly separate problems to include PACs, prostate/urologic, and multiple areas of tendonitis without strain or injury?

Good day, I am a 50 year old white male. HT: 5’10” wt: 246 lbs. HX: sleep apnea, high cholesterol and triglycerides and HBP. All controlled with medication and cpap. I have also been treated for soft tissue inflammation and arthritic symptoms for several years. My family doctor suspects psoriatic arthritis as a have several small areas of psoriasis. I recently had surgery to remove torn meniscus. My MRI revealed severely thinning cartilage. I also had carpal tunnel release in left wrist along with steriod injection in tendon of right wrist last year. Over the past several months I have developed sub-clinical premature atrial contractions but was cleared for knee surgery with good echo cardiogram and calcium score. I am now developing nodules on tendons on hands causing trigger finger along with achilles tendon nodule that is painful to touch or walk. I also have a nodule on my oppsite foot at the base of my big toe. I have also developed hematuria with restricted urine flow and output. CT scan negative for kidney stones but revealed simple cysts. No elevated creatinin. I suspect enlarged prostate pending follow up with my family doctor. I also have had significant lower back pain for years due to narrow disc space that has gotten alot worse in the past 6 months with the same timing as the PACs and urologic problems.

Could psoriatic arthritis be a more systemic problem leading to multiple seemingly separate problems to include PACs, prostate/urologic, and multiple areas of tendonitis without strain or injury? None of my current symptoms are currently resulting in positive imaging or bloodwork other than urinalyis

Hi
Commonly psoratic arthritis does not cause your systemic problems, however over the long run you tend to become obese and have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and diabetes , accordingly these problems can cause PACs, prostate/urologic, and multiple areas of tendonitis
Good Luck

hi,
psoriatic arhritis in itself wont cause syatemic problems.
In fact, psoriatic arthritis itself may be a local presentation of a systemic disease.
This systemic disease can cause these symptoms of PACs,prostate problems and tendinosis.
thanks

Hi…
Your problem is surely linked to many factors, you are suffering soft tissue rheumatic syndromes which is a secondary complication with psoriatic arthritis and overweight due to improper weight distribution and joint mechanics which causes overload on your joints ,ligaments and tendons ,other symptoms are strongly linked to overweight like hyper cholesterolemia ,hypertension, urine retention and kidney stones ,and others …
So your treatment must focus on losing weight and managing symptoms …

Well I think the main question is , do u really have psoriasis or not,
If the diagnosis I’d right, so yes, it could happen , psoriasis is a autoimmune disease

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Psoratic Arthritis does not cause thee systemic problems.
However it can be linked to other autoimmune and systemic conditions which can worsen the same..

Hope this helps..
