Hematoma after mini face-lift, caused lips and eyes to be swollen shut?

Female, age 68, non-smoker, excellent health until hematoma following recent mini-facelift. Hematoma caused drainage into my lips and eyes (even though neither was a part of the surgery). My eyes were swollen shut, but have now opened enough for me to see. The hematoma was suctioned out, but the problem now is that my lips remain huge. I can’t close them so I drool like a baby. My surgeon is so nice, I don’t want to hurt his feelings, and he has literally been seeing me in his office every day to re-check the hematoma. He thinks it will go away over time;however, my lips remain unchanged. IIs there anything that can speed up the process?

Lips hematoma takes weeks to resolve , however if you feel no improvement you can simply ask your doctor to drain it , also notice that some pain killers and anti inflammatory drugs have blood thining effect which can prevent healing
Good Luck

You do not need to worry about it as lip haematomas takes time to resolve.
You can use normal icing and anti bruise creams to treat it faster .

hi,
lips and face has lots of soft tissues and hence hematoma tends to remain for a longer period of time. Fibrinolytic medicines like trypsin, chymotrypsin, bromelein or serratiopeptidase can help reduce the hematoma quite significantly.

HI
INFECTION NEEDS TO BE RULED OUT. IF THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF INFECTION THEN ANTI INFLAMMATORY TABLETS WILL SPEED UP THE REABSORPTION PROCESS.
DO NOT APPLY ANYTHING WARM.

hello there
it does occur at your age. skin being very lax,the fluid tends to get accumulate under the subcutaneous tissue.
get the fluid aspirated by wide bore needle instead of getting it surgically drained.
