I am 19, female and diagnosed Anorexia nervosa binge purge subtype – in the past week I have been having sharp pains in my left collarbone region and upper left rib cage which I am sure is my supraclavicular gland – it is only my left collarbone that causes real discomfort whenever I hiccup, stretch, attempt to purge etc. the rib hurts when I try to breathe deeply. I have had a rare, sporadic mucus cough, it is not persistent it happens when I eat or randomly I will inhale and have to cough and clear my airway of the mucus. This started a few weeks ago I believe it is caused by accidentally aspirating my vomit a few times before it began. Is this an infection or should I be worried about possible stomach or esophageal cancer?
If mucus colour is green then you probably have respiratory track infection
However inflamation of your lymph nodes could be normal
If u had vomiting aspiration
Hi and welcome to question doctors .com
It could be a chest infection due to aspiration of any food particle and coughing back…but the described pain is likely a muscle strain due to repititive coughing .
Get a sputum culture and use hot foments on your upper chest ..avoid colds and air currents ..
PNEUMONITIS OR PLEURISY SEEM TO BE MORE LIKELY. HRCT CHEST AND SPUTUM EXAMINATION IS RECOMMENDED.
SPIROMETRY WILL ASSESS THE FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY OF THE ALVEOLI
this could be bronchiectasis. get a chest xray and ct chest done. see for the results. chest physiotherapy will be helpful.
muscular or neuritic origin pain can mimic these symptoms. get ct chest done to confirm the diagnosis
