I had a CT scan due to sever lower abdominal and back pain?

I had a CT scan due to sever lower abdominal and back pain. The CT scan found kidney stones On the CT scan it was also noted: “The bladder demonstrates a small floating air Lucency”. What does this mean? I have had no recent procedures. See uploaded files for CT scan report (two pages)

Hello. A lucency is an area of a different density from the surrounding tissue. Floating air lucency may be an air bubble mimicking a floating stone or a stone which is not clearly identified.

What can cause the air bubble?

Hello. Air bubble can be due to recent surgery, medical procedure or infection. Could be due to an abnormal opening between urinary tract and the intestine. (May also be a possible small stone) Regards

Hi. Thanks for the query.. A lucency is most commonly air trapped or an air bubble. Another cause can be an Artifact that is a false image created by the computer and is not exactly present in the body and is not a part of scan. It is not commonly due to any serious pathology and you need not to worry about it.. But in case of doubt it is always good to get a repeat scan done so that the picture can be cleared.
