I suffer from joint hypermobility, what do you recommend?

The muscles around my glenohumeral joint are hypermobile, they have been ever since I was little (Im now a senior in college). I don’t sleep with pillow, and I fall asleep with my humerus misarticulated, and I feel like over the years the muscles have been getting more and more loose, making every day activities more difficult. Today I fell down the stairs, and in addition to the typical soreness one would expect with that, my right humerus was fully wrenched out of the joint and twisted up, and now my upper back hurts and the shoulder is more mobile than usual. Can you recommend anything to reduce the hypermobility and discomfort?

hi
you do have hypermobility, and shoulder joint is more prone for such dislocations.

at present, you need to take rest, apply shoulder straps and keep it immobilised for atleast 21 days,so that the injured internal soft tissues heal completely.take anlagesic, anti inflammatory tablets for pain.
then you can get an mri done to see the extent of healing and any other causes of hypermobility.

if hypermobility is since childhood, then its genetic and nothing much can be done about it. only thing that can be done is do shoulder muscle strenghthening exercises.
thanks

Hi… Well then your problem is ligament laxity and the capsule of the joint is lax so this is causing hypermobility of the joint… what you need to do is first see an orthopedist after your recent shoulder injury to make a joint reduction to its normal place. then you should see a physiotherapist to follow a program of 12 to 16 weeks of strengthening to your muscles around your shoulder joint. the most important thing is strengthening your muscles. Maintain a healthy diet and life style keep on a low impact activity like swimming or bicycling improve your joint… Read more »

HI
THIS CAN BE LOCALISED IR GENERALISED LIGAMENT LAXITY . THIS
BY DEFAULT IS DUE TO CONNECTIVE TISSUE DISORDER AND CANNOT BE RECTIFIED COMPLETELY.
THE SUPPORTING MUSCLES CAN BE STRENGTHENED THOUGH TO REUCE THE LAXITY EFFECTS OF JOINT LIGAMENTS AND CAPSULE.
THIS CAN BE DONE ONLY THROUGH EXERCISES
