I went to the ER on Tuesday because I was coughing up blood?

I went to the ER on Tuesday because I was coughing up blood. No cold or flu symptoms at the time. After X-ray, blood work, and cat scan they came back and said I had walking pneumonia. Since then I do have some cold symptoms, mostly congestion. Today is Saturday and I’m still coughing up blood. I would say I have 2 episodes a day when it starts up and I spit out blood about 10 times before I get it all out. I don’t feel horrible but I’m getting more concerned each day it doesn’t go away. Please advise.. No cold or flu symptoms at the time. After X-ray, blood work, and cat scan they came back and said I had walking pneumonia. Since then I do have some cold symptoms, mostly congestion. It is the simplest form of pneumonia so you should not be concerned yet treatment for the cause is recommended which is mostly bacterial infection
Treated with macrolide, tetracycline, or fluoroquinolone classes of antibiotics
DO NOT TRY penicillin which won t work
Good Luck

hi
its due to pneumonia and you need to take broad spectrum antibiotics for it.
taking iv antibiotics will be more helpful for faster recovery.

HRCT chest along with sputum examination should be done.

HI
COUGHING UP BLOOD IS NOT A GOOD SIGN. GET ENDOSCOPY AND BRONCHOSCOPY DONE. INFECTIONS AND PLEURISY NEED TO BE RULED OUT.
CONSULT A PHYSICIAN

hello there
bronchiectasis, pneumonia or consolidation or laryngeal infections can cause blood in sputum. get detailed bronchoscopy done.if indicated, a mucosal biopsy can be done to confirm the diagnosis
