my baby daughter is 2yr and 7 months and was bad cold and cough was three weeks then she had breathing difficulties.then doctor given drop for nose ,then it came relief ,and doctor asked to do FBC and ESR test then the doctor highlighted that ESR level is high report result is 50 ( required limit is 29-30) and also himoglobin level was 10.5 doctor I am in confused mind what is this issue and do we need to repeat same test after one month kindly advise me .

Cough and cold and breathing issues are enough to cause it…
No need to repeat if the symptoms gone …
The haemoglobin in this age is commonly low due to prolonged breast feeding or not giving enough nutrients from other sources… Give your toddler poultry and eggs. Vegetables..and products reach in iron..no need to worry further

the baby is low in immunity due to low hemoglobin levels. A recent infection is usually associated with raised ESR..which usually settles down spontaneously. Nothing to worry as such. Healthy food,iron rich diet and hematinics to raise the hemoglobin levels will be suffiicient..

IDEALLY HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN 12-14 GMS/DL. 10.5 HB LEVEL IS NOT THAT BAD BUT A BORDERLINE LOW. IT CAN BE RAISED BY GIVING ORAL HEMATINIC SYRUPS FOR 2-3 MONTHS.
RAISED ESR IS RELATED TO THE HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS. ONCE HEMOGLOBIN IMPROVES,ESR WILL GET CORRECTED AUTOMATICALLY.

recent episodes of chest infection has caused these blood changes. nthing to worry. once the infection settles down completely,the reports will come back to normal. hematinics and iron supplements with iron rich diet will help raise hemoglobin and immunity as well
