My granddaughter is 2 years old has been diagnosed with Coxsackie disease on Wednesday of last week she ran a fever of 102 for a couple of days. They went to the doctor the doctor told her what it was. She has ran a mild fever since Sunday, they went to the ER on Sunday and they up the medication as far as between doses but her gums are bleeding and she is so miserable today she has diarrhea they give her an IV bag of fluids in the hospital said her lab work came back good. She was not dehydrated yet the doctor said. Her cannot see her today but sometime tomorrow my daughter does not know if she needs to take her back to the ER today because she is so miserable and her mouth is bleeding so much.

Hi
ER will be helpless except for May be treating her gum wounds, I recommend that you wait till your doctors appointment
Good Luck

CBC is important coz it most probably idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, self limited condition , no worries , just full examination and investigation s should be done , cocksakie sometimes affects the heart on the long term. Follow it up later

It is useless taking her to ER I recommend seeing the specialist for further testing of PCR or stool sample..

Hi..
Bleeding from gums can be due to inflamed gums post infection but in case if bleeding is in excess you should take her to emergency room so that appropriate steps can be taken to attain hemostasis and also a test for clotting factors should also be done..

As of now do cool compresses over her gums as it will also help in reducing bleeding..

Hope this helps,,
