Question: Do I have HIV …Aids…my blood results scare me.

Hi I wanted to ask a question that I have been having anxiety over. I’m 28/female and have swollen lymph nodes in my axilla and shotty lymph nodes in my groin. My cbc has come back normal and my sed rate is a 2. My ultrasound has come back normal with 1.9 lymph node being the largest. My hematologist thought this was still big for being normal and sent me for a ct scan next week and a lot of new blood work that I just received the results on. She ordered an hiv test which sort of scared me because I’ve only had sex with two
guys. My HIV test has come back NONREACT. I’ve been single for the past 2 years and haven’t had sex so there is no chance that I took it too soon after an exposure. The rest of my blood work is giving me anxiety though.

FLOW CYTOMETRY REPORT

SPECIMEN: A-PERIPHERAL BLOOD
DIAGNOSIS:
PERIPHERAL BLOOD, FLOW CYTOMETRIC
ANALYSIS:
– NO PHENOTYPICALLY ABNORMAL
LYMPHOCYTE POPULATIONS IDENTIFIED.
– SEE COMMENT.
COMMENT:
The peripheral blood sample is prepared for six-color
analysis with
good yield and viability. The lymphocyte gate has 20%
of events,
and has a heterogeneous mixture of B, T, and NK
cells. There is no
evidence for B-cell monotypia, aberrant antigen
coexpression, or
antigen loss to suggest a malignant lymphoid process.
The T helper
to T suppressor ratio is normal. There is no increase in
CD34-
positive cells.
Note that flow cytometry may not detect small
numbers of malignant
cells, and that demonstration of some post-thymic Tcell
neoplasms
may require molecular diagnosis. Additionally, a
normal study does
not exclude myeloproliferative or myelodysplastic
disorders.
GROSS:
Received is one lavender top tube of blood labeled
“…..”
MICROSCOPIC:
The peripheral blood smear shows small round
lymphocytes. Blasts
are absent.
COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT:
WBC: 6.0 k/cmm
Hemoglobin: 14.4 g/dL
Platelets: 201 k/cmm
Abs. Neutrophils: 4.116 k/cmm
Abs. Lymphocytes: 1.518 k/cmm
RESULTS
FLOW CYTOMETRY LEUKEMIA/LYMPHOMA
PANEL
Viability: 97%
Cell yield: Adequate.

If you look at the last few ones my cd4 says 54. Is this test an actual count of the cd4. A count like that would mean full blown aids. Thank you for taking the time to read my question. I would appreciate all of the help

hi.. i dont think you have hiv/aids from the above reports. the only issue here is a cause of swollen lymph nodes that you have. these may occur due to generalised infection . the reports say that you have no malignancy as well. the only possibility is of leukemia. the best and accurate diagnosis can be made by doing a excision and histopathology of one of the larger lymph nodes. this report will not only confirm the diagnosis, but also tell you the exact reason for these enlarged lymph nodes. all other reports are absolutely fine and just dont panic.… Read more »
