Woke up this morning with severe pain in my elbow area, when I looked, I had a deer tick (yes I am quite sure it was a deer tick) so I removed it but the area is red, swollen, and a burning pain which has persisted now for 3 hours +. I washed the area well, applied triple antibiotic ointment but just wondering if I need to do anything further. The tick was NOT engorged and had probably only been on me for no more than 8 hours as it was not there when I went to bed the previous night.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
If it seems to be only localised reaction then you need not to worry..
But if the symptoms worsen or you get fever malaise etc, consult an Emergency room as you might need antibiotics..
For now take anti allergics like Benadryl and do cool compresses over the bite area..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
Hello.
From your symptoms it seems its some local reaction to tick bite.Continue with antibiotic ointment. An anti histaminic medicine may provide relief.A tick non engorged carries very less chances of Lymes disease. Keep a watch on your symptoms. In case you get fever, bulls eye rash, joint pains then see a primary care physician and get evaluated.Take rest.Best wishes!
Hi,
In my opinion you are doing it right.. just the antibiotic and antihistaminic unless you have other symptoms like fever, vomiting or other parts rash…
Then you will need to see a specialist ,,
Hi
What your doing is perfect just use antihistamine to avoid scratching as it can Increase the infection
Good Luck
