Husband is having a hard time breathing especially lying down

Husband is 46, diabetic 20+ yrs, dr gave nat-oseltamivir 75mg n tyl 500 mg on Wed for flu. Plus flu symptoms, he’s having a hard time breathing especially lying down. He woke me up 5 am this morn, he said he was sitting up and “idk, I fell over”. He fell to the floor. Flu can be treated at home but at what point do i take him to the hospital?

hi,
high grade fevers, severe weakness variations in blood sugar levels and blood pressures are the main indications for hospitalisation.
falling over episode that he has experienced is a strong indication that he needs hospitalisation.
thanks

Hi.
İn patients with chronic diseases ,hospital admission can be essential if symptoms like severe shortness of breath and loss of consciousness occurs..
Specially if it is complicated pneumonia ..

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, his symptoms are pointing towards a severe form of lung Infection and not simply flu..

Also if he has shortness of breath on lying down proper investigation is needed to evaluate for cardiac related issues also to eliminate the suspected cause..

So you should take him to hospital soon and get him thoroughly examined..

Hope this helps..

Just do follow up Random blood sugar as we need to check whether it’s controlled or not, because if it’s not, then he will be v susceptible to infections and not responding to home treatment that much ,
Thyroid profile follow up is v imp too
Adjust his blood glucose and he will be able to be treated at home as long as no life threatening or serious symptoms
