I am a 50 year old women and I am 5 day post op from a knee replacement and I have a few patches of red but it is not angry looking and hasn’t spread my leg also feels very tight with swelling is this normal this early on in recovery

Those could be first degree pressure sores if you are not yet moving your leg..
Are there any itching?
It is normal to have swelling bit be aware from developing ulcers by movement.

yes,this can be normal in few cases where skin is sensitive.
however,infection should be ruled out if this persists for another 5 days.

Mostly, this is normally occurring after surgery , it’s v important to notice any swelling, redness, hotness, fever … All these are dangerous signs

It is not appearing to be infection yet as inflammation can cause such symptoms post surgery that will get resolved gradually..
Take proper medications as advised by your Surgeon..
If symptoms worsen then you can consult your Surgeon to rule out infection..
