I am an asthmatic and I would like to know if i can take Metformin?

I have a 5 year old daughter and my husband and I are trying for a baby, we have been trying for some time now but are having no luck – I was diagnosed with PCOS after having my 5 year old.
I have PCOS and would like some information on Metformin – As a few doctors have suggested it.
I am an asthmatic and I would like to know if i can take this medication while taking my asthma prevention?
Are there any long term side effects?
What dosage is normal?
How long do you normally take it for?
Can a any GP prescribe me this?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

First of all I would like to know from you that other than Singular are you taking any other medications for Asthma?

As far as Metformin is concerned you can take it but only after a proper advise with your Gynaecologist.

Metformin is helpful in PCOS and is commonly prescribed but first your latest ultrasound and complete hormonal profile should be done..

Dosage will depend on the results, however it is commonly started with 500 mg twice a day..

Hope this helps..

Hi,
Metformin is generally considered safe and indicated for pcos to helpnyour body utilize sugar, a dose of 1000 daily on two meals is recommended while doing a good diet and exercise regime to lower your body fat content and decrease sugar intake.

Hi
There is no interaction between Metformin and anti asthmatic drugs, however anti asthmatic drugs can interfere with your goal for losing abdominal fats to improve your PSOS condition
Good Luck
