Hi I have had a thyroid nodule since diagnosed at 14 years old, I am now 21. I have had it drained twice, but it came back.
Just recently the nodule has swollen up and today I woke up with a really sore/tender to touch thyroid cartilage, I’ve had a really horsey voice for a few days.
Can anyone help me please ? As I’m getting worried
Hi and welcome to question doctors.com thyroid nodules should be examined for malignancy on case of recurrence …if hyperthyroidism is there then radioactive iodine or surgical treatment are possible..
See a general surgeon .
This is called a hot thyroid nodule which gives symptoms of hyperthyroidism
I recommend having it drained as soon as possible
Do not worry it is hardly cancerous
Good Luck
hi
thyroid nodules are not drained but removed. Draining it will keep some abnormal tissue around and chances of recurrence will be high.
get the nodule enucleated completely once and for all.
this will reduce recurrence chances.
Get tumor markers done to rule out thyroid cancer.
thanks
HI
RECURRENCE IS QUITE COMMON EVEN IF YOU GET IT DRAINED MANY TIMES.
IT MAY BE DUE TO IRREGULAR TABLETS OR UNHEALTHY DIET.
TAKE IODINE RICH FOOD AND GET A RECENT MRI DONE.
CONSULT A ENDOCRINOLOGIST
hello there
this is quite common and its difficult to get permanent cure just with one or two drainages.
get thyroid hormones checked and also associated other hormonal variations need assessment.
get mri of neck done to see the extent of the lesion
