I have petechiae, spontaniously appearing on my thighs and calves, need second medical opinion?

I saw a doctor about petechiae, spontaniously appearing on my thighs and calves, the CBC i got was normal. However my legs continue to be covered with diffrent petechiae. Its been over three weeks that this started, and it comes on in large patches about twice a week, covering about half of my thighs, or all of my calves. Could we be missing something?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, Petechies and bruising of the skin of thighs can be due to a number of causes like Deficiency of clotting factors, Thrombocytopenia, Von Willebrands disease etc..

Consult a Hematologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like bleeding and clotting time, anti-platelet antibody levels, vitamin K, clotting factors etc all needs to be checked..

Treatment can be done accordingly..

Hope this helps..

Hi
Did you take any medication recently for stomach problems? If yes what are they?
Start on vitamin c supplements and vitamin k, also you should see an oncologist to check for leukemia
Sorry but you have no fever so your symptoms can not point to any infection
Good Luck

That could be either due to a medications side effect, viral infection or an autoimmune disease ,have you taken any medications ?

hi,
petechial subcutaneous infections can be caused by clotting factor derangements or other hematological conditions.
Deficiencies of vitamin K and C also can cause this.

Several autoimmune diseases and viral infections also can cause petechiae.
Rarely, these can be due to side effect of some medicine that you are already taking.

Thank you.
