have a friend who has immunodeficiency, and is a vegetarian. A month ago she started eating and every time she does eat she throws it back up immediately which makes her not want to eat, but she can drink liquids fine. She’s been to the doctor and they told her it’s depression and that’s not it at all. Can you guys figure what’s happening and how to fix it? I’m really worried because she’s developed really bad fatigue and I fear there are going to be worse symptoms. Any advice would help, thank you.
she seems to be low on immunity due to immunodeficiency disease. this causes digestion problems and severe gastritis and reflux symptoms. if she is tolerating liquids, she should continue to take them.avoid spicy and fat content in food. get her blood investigations done to see the cd4 count.
i agree that this is just not depression.
any disease that affects the oesophagus or upper part of the stomach causes difficulty in eating solid foods. most of them get that throwing out as its difficult to ingest and swallow solid and semi solid foods/ at present, avoid giving such foods. give grinded and mixed foods. health supplements will help regain her immunity
She must be having an upper GIT problem like reflux esophagitis and or gastritis..being vegetarian sometimes causes low immunity as the body misses some important proteins and minerals..
She can stay on juices and avoid caffeine .smoking.citrus juices and fats..
She would better go for upper GIT endoscopy to discover the issue..
Stress and depression also causes her not to eat and no eating causes depression ..break the vicious cycle.exercise.yoga..and relaxation is good for her
IT DOESNT SEEM TO BE RELATED TO IMMUNODEFICIENCY OR DEPRESSION.
ITS A FORM OF GASTRO OESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE. HIATUS HERNIA AT GASTRO OESOPHAGEAL JUNCTION NEEDS TO BE RULED OUT BY GASTRO OESOPHAGOSCOPY . ANTI EMETICS AND ANTACIDS SHOULD BE TAKEN 2 HOURS BEFORE TAKING FOOD.
