I dislocated my toe, doctor wants to have pin surgery, need second opinion?

I live in Japan and dislocated my toe. The toe next to my big toe. The japanese doctor pulled on it to put it back in place but the xray showed it was still dislocated. He told me I can just let it heal as it is or I he can put a pin in it. He said the ligaments were probably all screwed up and thats why it won’t go back in place by manual adjustment. It seems a little much to have pin surgery for just a dislocation.

In my opinion if you just splint it for 2 month it will go back to normal
Good Luck

Clinically I would go with the no surgery choice as this joint is a minor one so it can heal with support and kinesiotaping therapy .

hi
surgery is not needed just for pure dislocations.
but if it is associated with a fracture, then pinning is a must.
for pure dislocations, strapping will be sufficient.
thanks

HI,
PINNING WON’T CAUSE YOU ANY HARM BUT FOR DISLOCATIONS IT IS NOT NEEDED. SIMPLE STRAPPING WITH THE ADJACENT TOE IS SUFFICIENT.
TAKE REST FOR 3 WEEKS

hello there
some doctors feel it safe to avoid re-dislocation and there is nothing wrong in it the decision varies from doctor to doctor.
depends on patient’s demands
