49 y/o female, right hand was crushed/squeezed in a dog leash. Hand was swollen and bruised with limited motion to right ring finger and hand. A few days passed with no improvement. Had X-rays Dr. Says yes 4th metacarpal is broke. Took weeks to get into orthopedic hand Dr. He views films from initial visit and says no it’s not broke. Still pain in hand. Motion is resuming.

Hi , i see no fracture at all
I recommend physical therapy , as your symptoms indicate fibrous tissue formation due to slight internal muscle or joint capsule bleeding

I do not see any fractures..the pain could be due to contusions ..
Use ice packs and anti bruising creams and otc analgesics.
A hand support splint can help also..

there seems to be a hairline undisplaced fracture of the 4th metacarpal head.
But it should get ok with immobilisation for 4 weeks in a splint followed by physiotherapy and exercises.
hot fomentation will help.
